A feast for all five senses
Delhi is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with an estimated population of 26 million. It consists of two main parts: Old Delhi in the north, and New Delhi, the capital, in the south. Delhi is the second most populated metropolis in the world so first-time visitors might feel a bit intimidated by the magnitude and fast pace of the city, but that‘s quite normal. To get your bearings, we recommend booking a guided tour for a better sense of the city.
With three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, vibrant festivals and mouth-watering food, Delhi is a feast for all the senses. For fans of architecture and political history, Delhi‘s most iconic monument, the Red Fort is a must-see; Humayun's Tomb is the first example of Mughal architecture in India, and at 73 meters, Qutab Minar is the world’s tallest minaret, built in 1193.
We fly to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), which is approximately 16 km (9.9 mi) from New Delhi city center. The local currency is the Indian Rupee. Hindi is the official language in Delhi but English is also very common, especially in the tourist areas.
Experience and enjoy
With so much to see and explore, you should really take your time when visiting Delhi, especially if it’s your first trip to India. After visiting all the major attractions and exploring the popular areas, we recommend that you immerse yourself in the local culture. Catch the latest Bollywood movie at the cinema or enjoy some live music, amble the bustling streets, take in the atmosphere, meet the local Delhi-ites, taste the glorious food, visit the markets and shop for spices, clothing, handicrafts and other treasures, unique to these parts.
A popular day trip from Delhi is a visit to the world-famous white marble mausoleum, Taj Mahal, which of course needs no introduction, in the nearby city of Agra.
For some relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle, we recommend a visit to the beautiful and serene Lodi Gardens, located within the city and spread over 90 acres. It’s a great place to hang out with friends, do some yoga or just relax with a book in this green oasis.
Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Namaste!
